Two tomatoes priced at RM9, shocks buyer

MELAKA - A man was shocked when he had to pay RM9 for two tomatoes weighing only about 200 grams that he bought from a grocery shop in Bukit Pulau, here on Monday.
Rayaan Naufal Osman, 30, said he stopped at the shop at about 1.30pm to buy dried chillies and tomatoes.
"The seller then told me the price was RM9, which made me ask twice to be sure, but the answer was still the same, and I continued to pay even though I was a bit surprised," he said when contacted.
He added that before returning home, he had stopped by another grocery store in Bukit Baru to buy dried chilies.
"I took the opportunity to ask the shopkeeper to weigh the tomotoes that I bought, as I thought it was expensive to pay RM9 for two tomotoes.
"After weighing, the shopkeeper told me two tomatoes weighing around 200 grammes only cost RM2.50. The shopkeeper continued to explain that the price of a kilogramme of tomatoes currently is RM11," he said.
Rayaan said that he felt the price was ridiculous, which led to his sharing on Facebook which garnered heaps of reactions from netizens.
