KUALA LUMPUR - DAP secretary-general Anthony Loke describes the dispute over the party candidate contesting in upcoming state polls as a normal matter.

The Transport Minister said the current focus was given towards the ministerial works in developing the country's economy.

"This kind of issue (candidate dispute) is a common thing. They will give their views and such, but I think it would focus on our works to develop the nation's economy to provide prosperity for the people.

"Today we focus on the Madani Economy framework and on positive matters," he said.

He said this when met by reporters after the Empowering Civil Economy Launch Ceremony at the Securities Commission Malaysia office in Bukit Kiara, today.

On Tuesday, it was reported that DAP had dropped Penang deputy chief minister Dr P. Ramasamy from becoming the party's candidate in the upcoming election.

The Penang DAP deputy chairman was not nominated to defend the Perai state seat he won in the 14th General Election (GE14).

On Wednesday, Ramasamy claimed that there were 'hidden hands' who orchestrated the candidate selection process for the upcoming state election.

He said the matter clearly showed that those who supported Penang Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow were cut off from the candidate list as announced by Loke.
