GEORGETOWN - Jelutong Member of Parliament RSN Rayer urged the police department to take stern action against Perikatan Nasional (PN) chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin on his recent statement which allegedly touches on race, religion and royal institution (3R).

Speaking in a press conference, Rayer said that statements that touched on 3R issues were often used to poison the mind of voters, especially Muslim voters.

"I urge the Inspector-General of Police to take strict action against Muhyiddin and any party who uses 3R issues to influence the voters.

"I believe this statement was issued by him (Muhyiddin) with a clear purpose of influencing the mind of voters, especially Muslim voters to not support the unity government and its candidates who are contesting in the six-state elections," he said in a press conference at Wisma DAP headquarters, here today.

Therefore, Rayer calls PN members to not play dirty politics and touch on 3R issues during their campaigns for the state elections.

"We, DAP will not do that, our campaign has been clean. Our campaign focuses on helping the people, we don't intend to use dirty tactics as PN," he said.

In the same press conference, DAP's Syerleena Abdul Rashid announced that she made a police report against Muhyiddin's 'Allah' statement earlier today, accompanied by Rayer as the DAP legal advisor.

"This is a ridiculous allegation, when something like this is reported, this shows as a clear violation on 3R issues," she said.

Yesterday, a news portal Free Malaysia Today (FMT) reported that Muhyiddin had allegedly accused Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s unity government of being run by non-Malays, citing the 'Allah' issue as an example.

He claimed that when he was the home minister in the Pakatan Harapan government of 2018-2020, he came under pressure from DAP not to allow an appeal against a High Court ruling on the use of the word 'Allah' by a Sarawakian woman in her religious learning.

He said there was a big difference in the meaning of the word as used by Christians and Muslims.
