Screenshots of a video showing a durian stall assistant being approached by a man suspected to be the robber before the latter fled the scene in a Proton Wira car.
Bentong District Police Chief Superintendent Zaiham Mohd Kahar said in the 4.44pm incident, the female victim was working at the stall when a Proton Wira driven by a man, believed to be a local, approached.
The victim, a 38-year-old foreigner, was told to hand over the cash after being pointed with an object resembling a gun.
"The victim then handed over all the cash from the sale of durian. The suspect fled in the same vehicle.
"Initial investigations found that a local man employs the victim to work as an assistant at the stall," he said in a statement on Wednesday.
Zaiham said at the time of the incident, the victim was working alone and did not suffer any injuries, while the total loss was RM850.
The case is being investigated under Section 392/397 of the Penal Code for armed robbery.
"We are trying to track down the suspect in this case. The 26-second recording also went viral on social media," he added.
In the meantime, Zaiham advised the public to be careful and ensure their safety to avoid any untoward incident.
Those with information and witnessed the incident are urged to come forward and help the investigations by contacting the Bentong District Police Headquarters (IPD) District Control Center at 09-2222222 or any nearby police station, he said.
