YAN - Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor alleges that the political climate in Kedah has gotten hotter than usual due to the meddling hands of outsiders.

Sanusi — the Caretaker Kedah menteri besar — stressed that the state used to be very peaceful until certain individuals deliberately stirred up issues in Kedah.

"We were peaceful in Kedah, even the campaigning was smooth, except for a few troublemakers.

"Now, there are ‘outside elements’ that brought ‘heat’ in Kedah. It is as hot as a real desert.

“These people, they have made our clear rivers murky,” said Sanusi at a Perikatan Nasional (PN) mega gathering at the foot of Gunung Jerai, here, last night.

Sanusi — who is vying for the Jeneri state seat under Perikatan Nasional’s banner — however, did not name the “outsiders” he mentioned.

Such remark came following an off-the-cuff question from political religious preacher Azhar Idrus who shared the stage with Sanusi at the gathering.

Nonetheless, Sanusi hoped that the heated situation in Kedah would cool down.

"We hope that after the state polls, we can maintain peace, like the way we were used to," he added.
