PERMATANG PAUH – The Penang Pas youth has received information on 'phantom voters' fraud in the Penang state election which is scheduled for Aug 12.

This was revealed by state youth information chief Ikhwan Afiq Anuar in a press conference at the Permatang Pauh Pas centre, here, today.

"Today, the Penang Pas youth would like to share an urgent finding regarding fraud in the Penang polls.

"This information was obtained from reliable sources," he said.

Ikhwan further elaborated that this fraud scandal is done by collecting as many voter identification cards as possible in state seats; especially among youths, which will then be awarded with money.

"Then the identification card will be used by ‘ghost voters’ to vote for a certain political party, and will be returned once the elections are over.

"We believe that this is a desperate electoral fraud scandal with the method of 'renting voters' identification cards, as a last ditch effort to obtain a dirty, unclean, and unfair victory," Ikhwan told reporters.

Besides 'ghost voters', he said that Penang Pas youth were also made aware of a suspicious plan to bring in ballot papers illegally by changing the ballot box to guarantee a win for a certain party

"Elections should be a good field for all political parties to compete healthily in a mature democratic atmosphere, regardless of whether the contestants are parties from the current government, the opposition, or independent candidates.
