KUALA LUMPUR - The Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents (Matta) is targeting total sales of RM350 million through the upcoming Matta Fair, which will take place from Sept 1 to 3.

Its President Nigel Wong stated that the tourism ticket sales festival to be held at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (Mitec) was expected to attract 200,000 visitors.

“We are also aiming for RM70 million in domestic ticket sales.

“Free admission to the fair and various attractive packages and discounts will be offered to visitors.

“Matta Fair will operate from 10am to 9pm and includes free shuttle services from KL Sentral and Sunway Putra Mall to Mitec,” he added.

Wong said this during a media briefing announcing the Malaysia Aviation Group (MAG) as a partner for Matta Fair at its headquarters in Kuala Lumpur, yesterday.

Through this collaboration, Wong mentioned that MAG would offer discounts of up to 40 per cent for flights to selected domestic and international destinations.

He mentioned that the exclusive offers would be available from Aug 31 to Sept 9, for travel between Aug 31, 2023 and Mar 31 of the following year.

“Enrich members of Malaysia Airlines would also receive 50 per cent bonus reward points during this period.

“To further heighten the excitement, the airline is also offering 37 free tickets, including Business Class tickets from London and Sydney, through the Matta Fair Buyer’s contest,” he added.

Meanwhile, MAG Chief Commercial Officer Dersenish Aresandiran said that the initiative was one of the airline company’s efforts to provide buyers an enjoyable and beneficial experience.

“Our subsidiary airlines, namely MAS and MASwings, each offer a 25 per cent discount, while Firefly offers a 20 per cent discount on domestic and international tickets.

These offers are exclusive to Matta Fair. Visitors can come in groups to take advantage of these attractive prices,” he said.
