SHAH ALAM - The recent reappointment of Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari as the Selangor Menteri Besar has stirred a range of reactions within the Selangor community.

Engaging with Selangor's diverse population, Sinar Daily reached out to gauge public sentiment towards Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari's reinstatement as the Selangor Menteri Besar.

Several Selangor residents shared their perspectives on this development.

Ho Wei Zhang, a 25-year-old engineer, acknowledged his limited understanding of Malaysian politics while expressing his favorable stance on Amirudin's continuity as Menteri Besar.

Highlighting Amirudin's successful track record in governing Selangor, Ho endorsed Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim's decision.

He noted Selangor's resilience in maintaining its contribution to Malaysia's GDP amidst rising living costs.

"In contrast to other states, Amirudin's governance appears commendable," Ho added.

Aligning with Ho's sentiment, Karthik Arunasalam, 25, echoed his perspective.

Karthik lauded Amirudin's commitment to assisting the B40 and M40 communities and praised his vision for Selangor's growth, focusing on stability and upliftment of underprivileged individuals.

"Given Amirudin's single electoral term disrupted by the Covid-19 pandemic, I am against hasty judgments, considering the unique circumstances," he said.

Karthik cited instances where he witnessed families benefiting from initiatives like the IPR Programme and Rumah Selangorku, which helped them establish a foundation for their lives.

With the impending introduction of new LRT systems, Karthik advocated for enhanced public transportation efforts in Selangor.

He also floated the idea of state government involvement in housing project development and associated costs to cater to the broader populace.

On a different note, Annur Ainan Razali, 24, expressed a more critical viewpoint.

The postgraduate stressed the need for change and fresh perspectives, suggesting that a new Menteri Besar could introduce novel ideas to address Selangor's challenges such as traffic congestion and cost of living.

"While Amirudin is perceived as a figure who could usher in advancements, I acknowledge the desire for a new face to continue the legacy.

"Nonetheless, I anticipate Amirudin's commitment to Selangor's betterment while recognising his consistent performance," she said.

Amirudin, who took the oath of office yesterday, reaffirmed his dedication to Selangor's welfare and progress.

He expressed openness to public feedback and outlined his commitment to addressing citizens' concerns.

As Amirudin embarks on his second term, the performance remains to be seen, yet the people of Selangor undoubtedly hold high expectations for their leader.
