KUALA LUMPUR - The Road Transport Department (RTD) will submit an audit inspection report regarding the fatal accident involving 12 vehicles in Putrajaya to the Land Public Transport Agency (APAD) next Monday.

RTD Deputy director-general (Planning and Operations) Aedy Fadly Ramli said their department was also involved in the investigation of the case and the report was being finalised.

"On Monday next week, we will hand over the complete report to APAD for further action and instructions.

"We (RTD) only received the report of the fatal accident from the police yesterday (Thursday)," he said during a joint press conference Op Bersepadu with the police, National Anti-Drug Agency (AADK) and the Environment Department at the Awan Besar Toll Plaza here yesterday.

He said that RTD would also investigate whether the lorry involved in the accident was carrying a load exceeding the limit.

He added that this was among the crucial tasks handled by RTD's investigation team because they not only examined the accident area but also the location where the lorry loaded its cargo.

In the incident on Wednesday, a trailer lorry carrying a load of sand was believed to have changed lanes from the middle lane to the left before colliding with 11 stationary vehicles, including a police escort motorcycle, in an accident at Kilometer 5.7 of Persiaran Utara Road, Putrajaya.

The incident, which occurred around 10.14am, involved six cars, two lorries, three motorcycles, and a police traffic motorcycle, with one of the lorries involved believed to have crashed into the vehicles that were stopped on the road.
