KUALA TERENGGANU - Seven amateur football players pleaded guilty in the Magistrate's Court here yesterday for injuring opposing team members during a Terengganu Football League (TFL) match last January.

The accused, aged between 22 and 36, were Ahmad Zaim Zahirulhaq Roslan, Muhamad Supian Al Shaari, Mohd Zulkifli Abdullah, Mohd. Hazwani Ab Karim, Tuan Faiz Hakimie Tuan Rosli, Ahmad Najmie Adnan, and Wan Muhamad Aidid Ghazali.

They admitted to the charges under Section 323 of the Penal Code for causing hurt, punishable by up to a year in jail, a fine of RM2,000, or both. The charges were read together with Section 34 of the Penal Code for acting together in the offence.

All of them made the confession after the charges were read separately before Magistrates Nik Mohd Tarmizie Nik Mohd Shukri and Noor Mazrinie Mahmood.

The accused are charged with an offence under Section 323 of the Penal Code and read together with Section 34 of the Penal Code, which is punishable under the same act.

If convicted, the accused faces imprisonment for up to one year or a fine of up to RM2,000, or both.

Supian faces three charges of intentionally causing injury to Ronny Irwan Husni @ Abdul Rahman, 46; Muhammad Zarif Adib Chek Azman, 18; and Muhammad Alauddin Roslan, 19.

The court ruled Supian to be fined RM1,500 for each charge and face a two-month prison sentence if he fails to pay the fine.

Another accused, Najmie, who is a civil servant, faces one charge of intentionally causing injury to a victim at the same time and location.

The court ruled him to be fined RM1,000 or imprisoned for two months if he failed to pay the fine.

The other four accused face one charge each and receive a fine of RM1,500 or two months in prison if they fail to pay the fine.

The prosecution of the case was handled by Deputy Public Prosecutors, Nur Amalina Najwa Mohd Ali and Nur Aisyah Mohamad while lawyer, Muhammad Nadzir, represented the accused.

The incident occurred during the final minutes of a TFL match between NAG FC and KESA FC on Jan 12 at the Terengganu State Sports Complex.

Media reports indicated a fight broke out before the match ended, with NAG FC leading 4-1.
