Bersih warns of larger rally if govt fails to act on corruption
The anti-corruption rally held on Jan 25 reflected mounting public pressure demanding authorities to put an end to corruption.

SHAH ALAM - A bigger rally will be staged by the people if the government fails to implement structural reforms, warns Coalition for Clean and Fair Elections (Bersih) chairman Muhammad Faisal Abdul Aziz.
He said the anti-corruption rally held on Jan 25 reflected mounting public pressure demanding authorities to put an end to corruption.
He said the Madani Government must act to fulfill its reform promises, particularly regarding three key demands.
"We all know that the biggest corruption scandal, 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB), has tarnished the country's dignity.
"However, to this day, there have been no structural reforms to ensure such abuse of power does not recur.
"The reforms mentioned have long been awaited by the people. What is hindering their discussion and implementation? We do not want the public to be disheartened by the failure to carry out these reform efforts," he said.
Faisal added that Bersih's main goal was to amplify the voices of Malaysians who despise corruption and to advocate for 2025 as the starting point for efforts to eradicate this crime.
Bersih also congratulated those who participated in the rally.
