QR code payment failures hurt Ramadan vendors, but simple solutions are available
Ramadan Bazaar vendors hit by unpaid QR code payments

SHAH ALAM – With Ramadan's arrival, bustling bazaars see a surge in food vendors. However, a concerning trend has emerged: buyers using DuitNow online applications fail to complete QR code payments, leaving vendors unpaid.
This issue, while appearing as a successful transaction to the buyer, stems from various factors, chief among them, potential fraud.
Technical glitches, such as incorrect button presses or a lack of digital literacy, also contribute to the problem.
Instead of assigning blame, focusing on preventative measures proves more effective.

A case shared on social media platform X by user @mawarne recounted the experience of a Kafa (Al-Quran and Fardu Ain Classes) teacher.
Her 15-year-old daughter, working as a vendor, discovered that only half of her sales had been successfully paid for.
The post quickly gained attention from netizens, with many expressing anger on her behalf.
Some suggested solutions, such as purchasing a Soundbox or downloading an app to notify vendors when a payment has been made.
Others called for further investigation, noting that some instances may be caused by honest mistakes rather than intentional fraud.
User @JaznynaA recommended the MaybankQrPayBiz app, which makes a "Ka-Ching" sound whenever a payment is successfully received.
While it does not announce the exact amount like a Soundbox, it provides a simple alert to let vendors know that money has been transferred, reducing the chances of missed payments.
Meanwhile, @qtpilove shared a Shopee link to purchase the Soundbox, which is branded with Touch 'n Go and priced at around RM150.
This device ensures seamless transactions between vendors and buyers.
User @DrogbaForlan offered advice for vendors: "When it comes to doing business, it is important not to easily break down. Move on and keep learning from past mistakes."
