Those who give charity will not become poor
Amidst the increasingly challenging economic conditions, Muslims are encouraged to think positively and take the opportunity to give, even in small amounts.

SHAH ALAM – In Islam, those who give to charity, even during their own struggles, will not be left in poverty.
Association of Seniors in Islamic Finance secretary-general Dr Razli Ramli said this was because Allah SWT has guaranteed that those who give charity and spend in the way of goodness will not fall into poverty; instead, they will receive multiple rewards.
"Allah said in the Quran: "The example of those who spend their wealth in the way of Allah is like a seed (of grain) which grows seven spikes; in each spike is a hundred grains. And Allah multiplies (His reward) for whom He wills. And Allah is all-Encompassing and Knowing." (Surah Al-Baqarah 2:261).
"The same is also mentioned in the hadith "Charity does not decrease wealth, no one forgives another except that Allah increases their honor, and no one humbles themselves for the sake of Allah except that Allah raises their status. (Narrated by Muslim, No. 4689)," he said.
Razli added that some Muslims hesitate to give charity, especially during difficult times, because they see it only from a worldly perspective, without considering its spiritual rewards and deeper wisdom.
He said charity and donations should not be viewed solely from a worldly perspective.
Instead, he emphasised the importance of believing that giving charity is a valuable investment in both this life and the hereafter.
Amidst the increasingly challenging economic conditions, Razli encouraged Muslims to think positively and take the opportunity to give, even in small amounts.
"Ramadan is the best time to give charity. For example, even if we donate just RM1, Allah SWT will grant great rewards, especially in this holy month, as long as the intention behind it is sincere," he said.
"Muslims must remember that Allah SWT does not look at the amount of charity given, but the sincerity and intention behind it," he added.
Therefore, he encouraged Muslims in Malaysia and worldwide to consistently donate at least RM1 per month, whether to the poor, the needy, the elderly, charity funds or mosques.
He suggested that those with a fixed income should consider setting up an automatic salary deduction every month for charity and donations so that they do not miss out on performing good deeds.
Razli said Muslims should never give up on giving charity, even in small amounts, as long as it is done continuously, like flowing water.
"It is better to donate small amounts consistently rather than giving a large amount but only once in a while.
"The most important thing now is to increase awareness and knowledge among Muslims in Malaysia about the importance of charity and giving, even in small amounts," he said.
