'Dark mark on national sports': Pas Youth demands answers on Faisal Halim NFA
The Alor Setar MP said that the NFA classification raises significant concerns about public safety and the accountability of authorities in addressing serious crimes committed in broad daylight.

SHAH ALAM – Pas Youth is demanding a detailed explanation from the government concerning the acid attack case involving Harimau Malaya and Selangor FC winger Faisal Halim, following the classification of the investigation as ‘No Further Action’ (NFA).
Pas Youth Chief Afnan Hamimi Taib Azamudden expressed his disappointment over the decision, labelling it a "dark mark in the history of national sports."
The Alor Setar MP said that the NFA classification raises significant concerns about public safety and the accountability of authorities in addressing serious crimes committed in broad daylight.
"Is Malaysia truly a nation governed by the rule of law if justice is not served in cases like this?
"This is not just about Faisal but also involves the safety of all our athletes, which is the responsibility of both the Youth and Sports Ministry (KBS) and the Home Ministry (KDN)," Afnan said in a Facebook post today.
He stressed the national impact of the attack and the severe injuries sustained by Faisal, a figure who inspires many young Malaysians.
"Therefore, it is highly inappropriate for the case to be closed without any prosecution or reasonable public explanation," he said.
It was reported that Faisal’s legal team had urged authorities to pursue further investigation into the acid attack that occurred on May 5 last year.
Lawyers from Mohd Ashraf, Nik Zarith & Co – Nik Zarith Nik Moustpha and Mohd Haijan Omar – highlighted proactive steps taken since the initial investigation, including full cooperation with the police and a formal request for a thorough inquiry.
The legal firm also sent multiple letters to key stakeholders, including the Speakers of the Dewan Rakyat and Dewan Negara, the Home Ministry, and the Attorney-General’s Chambers (AGC), advocating for the case to be closely monitored and given priority.
Afnan further commented that authorities must operate based on the principles of justice and consistently ensure the safety of all citizens, regardless of their background.
"The police and the AGC must present the basis for the NFA decision to the public and issue an open explanation to avoid erosion of public trust.
"Pas Youth calls on the authorities to act on this demand and we will not hesitate to take further action if the government fails to treat this matter with the seriousness it deserves.
"Do not let the people suffer a crisis of trust in the authorities due to the government’s failure to ensure public safety," Afnan said.
