SHAH ALAM - A total of 265 dedicated personnel from the Selangor Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) were honoured today in a special ceremony that recognised their commitment and contributions to public safety, community service and departmental excellence.
The Fire Service Medal Award Ceremony, alongside the 2024 Excellent Service Award (APC), 30 Years Service Certificate and Commendable Service Certificate Presentation, was held at the MBSA Convention Centre and officiated by the Fire and Rescue Department director-general Datuk Nor Hisham Mohammad.
“This ceremony serves as a tribute to the dedication and contributions of the Selangor Fire and Rescue Department personnel in carrying out their public duties.
“It also honours their active participation in sports, social and community initiatives beyond their official responsibilities,” he said.
The breakdown of recipients included 110 personnel awarded the Fire Service Medal, 118 recipients of the Excellent Service Award, 27 personnel honoured with the 30 Years Service Certificate and 10 receiving the Commendable Service Certificate.

Nor Hisham also expressed heartfelt gratitude to the public for their enthusiastic participation in the 2025 Run With Bomba, held on May 17 at Dataran Kemerdekaan Shah Alam.
“A heartfelt thank you to everyone who participated in the 2025 Run With Bomba, successfully held on May 17 at Dataran Kemerdekaan Shah Alam. This year’s event held special meaning due to the attendance of Her Royal Highness the Tengku Permaisuri of Selangor.
“The strong turnout by the public reflects the close and solid relationship between the community and the Department, symbolising the public’s full support for the efforts and sacrifices of firefighters in safeguarding public safety and welfare,” he added.
In line with the national agenda to uphold Malay language and strengthen English, JBPM is also advancing the English proficiency of its officers through targeted training.
He shared that an English Language Competency Enhancement Course has been introduced and the JBPM Selangor Toastmasters Club established to boost public speaking and client interaction.

“Beyond improving public speaking skills in English, the formation of the Toastmasters Club ensures that every officer can engage with clients more confidently, as our department serves both locals and foreigners,” he said.
Focusing on the welfare of JBPM members, Nor Hisham announced approved housing projects under the 12th Malaysia Plan, which will provide much-needed quarters for fire and rescue personnel.
The housing projects include a total of 100 housing units at the Kota Kemuning Fire and Rescue Station, alongside the construction of a new station with six units at the Teluk Panglima Garang Fire and Rescue Station.
“The construction of these quarters has been approved under the 12th Malaysia Plan,” Nor Hisham confirmed.
As JBPM continues to elevate service standards and invest in its personnel, today's ceremony served not only as recognition of past dedication but also as a reminder of the Department’s mission to protect, uplift and evolve with the community it serves.
