Teen spends over an hour digging through rubbish to retrieve RM650 dental retainer
She realised the device was missing only after arriving home from the eatery and without hesitation, she returned to search for it.

SHAH ALAM – A 17-year-old girl from Ampang, Shaza Nayli Mohd Sazli, showed remarkable determination when she searched through bags of food waste at a restaurant to recover her dental retainer.
She realised the device was missing only after arriving home from the eatery.
Without hesitation, she returned to the restaurant to search for it.
“Before eating, I took off my retainer and wrapped it in tissue because I forgot to bring a container to store it.
“After finishing my meal, I went straight home and forgot about the retainer. I only remembered it an hour after arriving home.
“When I realised my retainer was missing, I was really anxious and had to muster the courage to ask the staff there for help,” she told Sinar on Monday.
With assistance from the restaurant workers, Shaza spent over an hour rummaging through the garbage.
The retainer, used for both upper and lower teeth, cost RM650.

“In the beginning, I cried while looking for it because I was worried, but I felt relieved once I found it.
“I began searching for it in the rubbish bins inside the shop, then I went to the back area.
“The rubbish was still fresh and had not started to smell yet, so I wasn’t that disgusted,” she added.
Shaza added that this was not the first time she had lost her retainers while eating out.
“Previously, I also lost my retainers at a restaurant but managed to get it back because the the table was not cleared yet.
“This recent incident involved my second retainer, which I had been using for less than two months, which is why I was determined to find it,” she said.
Her story went viral when her TikTok post under the account @shzanyli, garnered 8.5 million views and over 239,000 likes.
