SHAH ALAM – Political drama, public statements and a social media storm: the fallout between Barisan Nasional (BN) Youth leader Datuk Shahrul Nasrun Kamarudin and his ex-wife, entrepreneur Datin Amyera Zainal, shows no sign of slowing down.

Just days after Shahrul issued a formal statement denying his ex-wife’s explosive allegations and hinting at possible legal action under the Communications and Multimedia Act, Amyera fired back with a string of biting posts on her Instagram Stories on Tuesday.

The entrepreneur appeared unfazed by his warning, mocking what she described as an attempt to intimidate her into silence.

“Eh, wants to sue now? He’s the one who started posting in the first place. So when he talks about me and posts about me, I’m expected to stay silent? But the moment I speak up, suddenly it’s all about suing? That word ‘sue’ is just meant to scare people into keeping quiet. Sorry, not scared at all. Go ahead then, sue,” she wrote.

Amyera insisted that everything she had previously shared, including claims that her ex-husband had allegedly hired prostitutes, subscribed to OnlyFans and kept a collection of sex toys, was true and supported by evidence.

“Besides, I didn’t make up lies. Everything I posted is true. Not a single thing is slander,” she added.

Her remarks came after Shahrul’s official statement on Oct 28, where he expressed regret over the public nature of the dispute, denied any involvement by his fiancee and reminded the public that online comments could fall under Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998, a law that covers cyberbullying and defamation.

But Amyera appeared undeterred.

“He’s so eager to sue everyone who writes about him. Fine, let him sue the whole of Malaysia. When he was going live and criticising others, no one sued him then,” she quipped, adding that the threat of legal action was merely a tactic to divert attention.

In another post, she hinted that the controversy had only become more public because of his actions. “From something no one knew, now everyone knows,” she said.

Amyera continued her tirade, taking aim at what she called Shahrul’s “public persona” and his carefully polished statement.

She urged followers not to be swayed by his words, saying that his behaviour in real life was far from what he portrayed online.

In her post, she wrote that he was “making a fool” of himself and added that while he could pretend all he wanted, “the truth has a way of revealing itself.”

“Don’t make promises on social media. I know your behaviour too well. Better to just stay quiet. Whether you’re trying to change or not, no one cares, just stop disturbing people’s lives,” she said.

The public feud between the former couple erupted after Amyera shared a series of allegations about their past marriage, claiming that her ex-husband led a “double life” and that his alleged actions were the real reason behind their divorce.

Shahrul, who recently announced his engagement to Meerween Hanees Natasha Meeat, has denied the claims, expressing disappointment that private matters have turned into public controversy.

Despite his conciliatory tone, saying he held “no hatred or resentment” towards his ex-wife, the online exchanges between the two have continued to capture public attention, turning what was once a private marital issue into a very public spectacle.

Shahrul and Amyera tied the knot on May 20, 2016 and were married for eight years before finalising their divorce on July 30, 2024.

The couple’s relationship, once widely followed on social media, has since become the subject of public scrutiny following their separation. They share two children together.
