JOHOR BAHRU - Perikatan Nasional (PN) chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin has yet to accept the reality of not being appointed as the Prime Minister, Umno veteran Tan Sri Shahrir Samad said.

In a Facebook post today, the Johor Bahru Umno Division Chief said Muhyiddin should have publicly declared whose support he had managed to gain for him to be appointed as the Prime Minister.

"That is why it is necessary to openly state who is in the group of the 42 MPs that gave their statutory declarations (SD) in support of Muhyiddin.

"Even the Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Azhar Harun was unable to aid them (PN) when the party leaders finalised their support," Shahrir wrote He added that in the end it was not in the cards for PN as 73 MPs is not strong enough," he said.

Meanwhile BN Johor Youth Chief Mohd Hairi Mad Shah asked for Muhyiddin to 'move on' and not to make a public mockery of the decision made by the palace He said the former Prime Minister needed to comply with the orders by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong because he appointed Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim as the Prime Minister as well as adviced for the formation of a unity government.

"I hope Muhyiddin can 'move on' and not peddle this issue and turn it into a cheap political strategy to incite and instill negative perceptions among the people," he said in a statement on Wednesday.

In a viral recording of speech made by Muhyiddin, he claimed that he had had the support of 115 MPs to become Prime Minister and establish the Federal government.

" If I already have the support of 115 MPs it is impossible for anyone else (to gain a majority support). Who decides in the election, you (the people) do, not the other party," he was reported as saying.
