SHAH ALAM - Barisan Nasional (BN) may use party logo in four states, while Pakatan Harapan (PH) may use their logo in two states, predicts analyst.

Universiti Utara Malaysia political analyst Assoc Prof Dr Mohd Azizuddin Mohd Sani PH may use their logo in Penang and Selangor.

"I think BN will use its logo in Kelantan, Terengganu, Kedah and Negeri Sembilan.

"Whereas PH will use BN logo in Kelantan and Terengganu," he told Sinar Daily.

Meanwhile, Singapore Institute of International Affairs senior fellow Dr Oh Ei Sun said political parties should utilise their own logo or any logo that holds greater influence.

"I believe that on the side of BN, the party that represents the unity government in each constituency should use either its own logo, such as Umno or MCA, or the BN logo, depending on which they perceive as stronger," he said.

Oh said this strategy allows political parties to maximise their chances of winning, minimising the perception of being "tainted" by their former enemies.

"This is of course assuming that there is only one party representing unity government in each constituency," he said.

Commenting further, Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) political analyst Dr Abdul Aziz Azizam said the contesting party's choice of logo is driven by the aim to minimise risks and avoid potential losses in the election.

He said considering the composition of the local community is crucial to determine which logo will be used to avoid losing.

"For example, in states with a majority Malay population such as Kedah, Kelantan, Terengganu, and Negeri Sembilan, the party should use a logo that is trusted by the Malay community," he reasoned.

On the other hand, for the two other states, Selangor and Pulau Pinang, where the voter composition is mixed, a more suitable logo would be one that does not represent any specific ethnic group, Aziz explained.

Meanwhile, Universiti Putra Malaysia political analyst Datuk Prof Dr Jayum Anak Jawan said there is no reason for DAP or PKR to share seats with any other party in Selangor.

"Sharing seats with new partners would be tantamous to eroding their own political position that is consided firm or strong at the moment.

"PH comprising PKR and DAP is not expected to be rattled by any party or coalition in the coming state elections.

"Similarly, Pas has little reason to share Kelantan and Terengganu with any allies, including PN-Bersatu. Their leadership are firmly established in these two states," he said.

Jayum further said in Kedah, PN-Bersatu has no reason to want to share power with any party or coalition.

"It is expected that these two ally will fight it out together against any party or block that will try to dislodge their position in Kedah," he said.
