"Is it true that LGBT groups belong in hell?" Habib Umar's wise answer

The presence of the great scholar from Yemen, Habib Umar to Malaysia is still the talk of the town.

Habib Umar or his real name is Habib Umar Bin Muhammad Bin Salim Ben Hafidz shared his knowledge to over 18,000 people at the Madani Knowledge Programme with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim at the Putra Mosque last month.

This shows that people are interested in and love knowledge events with Islamic scholars.

At the Madani Knowledge Programme, there was an open question and answer session with Habib Umar. Numerous participants did not miss the opportunity to ask questions.

Notably, there was a question asked by a "Mak Nyah" (transgender woman) about the truth of a claim that their (mak nyah) place in the afterlife would be hell.

Habib Umar answered it by telling a story of a bandit leader. After a robbery, they were served some food.

The head honcho declined the food and said that he was fasting. His peers were surprised and said: "You're a leader of robbers, how can you possibly fast?"

He replied: "Yes, I robbed and committed many sins, but I don't want to break my relationship with God. That's why I fast."

A few years later during the Haj season, some victims of one of their robberies came across the leader crying in front of the Kaaba.

They said: "Aren't you the bandit leader who robbed us before? How can you be like this now?" He replied: "When I committed sins, I did not break my relationship with God"

Habib Umar further advised, even if we did something sinful, never break our relationship with the Creator which is Allah SWT.

Habib Umar's message was simple, yet deeply moving. Habib Umar did not approve the sins and wrongs committed by the LGBT group, but he instead showed them a way out of it.

This is the character of a teacher; not approving vice and sin, yet at the same time, not judging. He even provided a way out for those who are looking for the light of guidance.
