SHAH ALAM - "Carry out your responsibilities with honesty and steadfastness."

That was among the words of advice from former Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Musa Hassan to the newly appointed top leadership of the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM).

Tan Sri Razarudin Husain and Datuk Seri Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay were respectively appointed as the Inspector-General of Police and Deputy Inspector-General of Police effective from 23rd June.

According to Musa, every entrusted duty comes with the responsibility to carry it out honestly, in order to benefit the people and the country.

"The promotion comes with tasks and responsibilities," he said in an interview with Sinar on Saturday.

Musa noted that the new duo of Razarudin and Ayob Khan hoped to bring about new changes to the PDRM in determining the vision and mission of the force.

He believed that both individuals would continue to uphold the excellent image of the police force in providing the best services to the public.

"In addition, law enforcement must be carried out efficiently, firmly, and with integrity. Integrity is an important aspect within the department to ensure the good name of the force is maintained.

"Firmness is also crucial, including combating crimes and illicit syndicate activities that can create social problems, and taking action against syndicate leaders.

"The police should be seen as an entity free from interference. There should never be any favoritism or bias towards any party, especially in actions involving politics," he said.

Musa, who has 41 years of experience in the police force, was previously appointed as the Inspector-General of Police on September 12, 2006, and held the position for four years.

Among the important positions held by Musa included the Johor Police Chief (2003), Criminal Investigation Department Director (2004), before being appointed as the Deputy Inspector-General of Police (2006).

Meanwhile, another former Inspector-General of Police, Tan Sri Abdul Hamid Bador, also expressed congratulations and appreciation for the appointment of both individuals to the highest positions in the PDRM.

Abdul Hamid regarded the pairing of Razarudin and Ayob Khan as the best in elevating the PDRM's stature.

"Both of them are the best pairing, and I congratulate them on their appointment.

"Always make the PDRM a respected enforcement entity and aim to strengthen the mission of upholding the law," he said.

Abdul Hamid held the position of Inspector-General of Police on a contract basis from May 4, 2019, until May 3, 2021.
