SHAH ALAM - Segambut Muda secretary Hisham Hamzah announces his break from politics.

Despite stepping away from politics, Hisham remains committed to the party's vision of a diverse and progressive Malaysia.

"I do not believe in party loyalty. I am only loyal to my family, my sovereign and my country.

"Nevertheless, I believe in the party's (Muda) agenda of a multiracial and progressive Malaysia and I am also a supporter of Pakatan Harapan (PH)," he said in a statement.

Hisham expressed disappointment with the recent news concerning Muda, as he always believed Muda and PH were "natural allies."

However, he acknowledged and respected the leadership's decision.

"I hold great respect for Muda secretary-general Amir Abd Hadi, deputy president Amira Aisya Abd Aziz, and of course, party president Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman.

"I know from my experience the disdain some Pakatan leaders have shown Muda in the last year or so.

"But politics is fluid and mature parliamentary democracies are full of temporary alliances and coalitions.

"This is something we all need to get used to," he stressed.

In a related matter, Hisham expressed his admiration for Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and his support for him and PH during the 15th General Election (GE15).

"Along with many of us, I watched with tears when he (Anwar) finally took the oath as the Prime Minister.

"It is a tough time for our country, but his (Anwar) cabinet is doing reasonably well.

"Not as well as some Ministers claim, but not as badly as PN claims. I have full confidence in him (Anwar) to do the job," he said.

Hisham revealed that he had grown weary of the constant battles, both offline and online, over the past two years.

"I have decided to take a break and pass the torch to the younger generation in my party.

"I have had the privilege of working alongside many young, dedicated, and sincere individuals in Muda.

"I wish them all the best in the upcoming state elections and in their future endeavors, together with Pakatan," he added.

Recently, Muda announced its decision to contest independently in the upcoming state elections.

However, its president stated that Muda is prepared to face the consequences of competing against PH and Barisan Nasional (BN) in the state polls.
