JOHOR BAHRU - The police have denied that an Indonesian domestic worker was abused by her employer in Taman Pelangi near here, as indicated in a viral video on social media.

Johor Bahru South District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Raub Selamat said the allegation was false, adding that the employer of the said foreign worker came forward to file a report at the Johor Bahru South District Police Headquarters at 10.48pm on Tuesday.

"The foreign maid ran from her former employer's house at 11.21am on Monday in Taman Pelangi. Investigations found that the suspect had escaped with a blue shopping bag by climbing the fence in front of the house," he said in a statement, today.

Previously, a viral video showed an Indonesian woman meeting a man and claiming she had been working as a maid in Johor for two weeks.

She also alleged that she was beaten and not fed by her employer.

In the video, the man claimed to have taken the woman to eat before filing a police report and taking her to the Consulate General of The Republic of Indonesia in Johor Bahru.

Raub said the female suspect wore a black T-shirt with yellow stripes on the chest and red pants when fleeing.

He said the police are actively hunting for the suspect to assist with the investigation.

Meanwhile, the police found four videos with durations between 12 and 30 seconds and a statement that went viral since yesterday, claiming the suspect was abused.

Commenting on the man's claim that he brought the suspect to file a police report, Raub said the woman's report was about losing her passport and not because her employer abused her.
