Elmina crash: Pelangai assemblyman Johari Harun laid to rest

GOMBAK - The remains of the Pahang State Executive Councillor for Local Government, Housing, Environment, and Green Technology, Datuk Seri Johari Harun have been laid to rest at the Raudhatul Sakinah Cemetery in Batu Caves here on Sunday.

Johari's remains, one of the victims in the tragic plane crash on Persiaran Elmina, Shah Alam, on Thursday, arrived at the mosque at 10.18am and were laid to rest at 12.16pm after the funeral prayers.

More than 500 people, including relatives and the local community, attended the funeral to pay their final respects to Johari.

Also present to pay their final respects were Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi; former prime minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob; Speaker of the Pahang State Legislative Assembly Datuk Seri Mohd Sharkar Shamsudin; Pahang Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail Deputy Inspector General of Police Datuk Seri Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay.

Earlier, the wife of Johari, Datin Seri Maziah Samsudin, arrived at around 11am in a vehicle accompanied by several individuals and was seen entering the forensic building at Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital (HTAR), Klang, on Saturday.

It is understood that her presence was related to the identification process of Johari's remains.

On Saturday, Selangor Police Chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan announced that the remains of all nine victims involved in the tragic incident could be claimed at around 9am on Sunday at the Forensic Department of HTAR Klang.

On Thursday, the private plane crash involving a Beechcraft 390 (Premier 1) aircraft on Persiaran Elmina, Shah Alam, claimed 10 lives, including Johari, who was also a State Assemblyman for Pelangai.

The incident involved six passengers and two crew members of the light aircraft, as well as two civilians, a motorcyclist, and a car driver passing by the scene.

The aircraft, which was departing from Langkawi and heading to Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport (LTSAAS), was reported to have been granted permission to land at 2:50 PM but crashed two minutes before landing.
