GAZA CITY - At least one million people in Gaza were forced to flee their homes in just one week, the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) said late Sunday.

"At least one million people were forced to flee their homes in one week alone. A river of people continues to flow south,” Anadolu Agency reported citing UNRWA, adding "no place is safe in Gaza.”

At least 2,670 Palestinians have been killed and more than 9,600 others injured in Israeli attacks on the enclave since Oct 7, according to the Palestinian Health Ministry.

Home to 2.2 million people, the Gaza Strip has been under blockade since 2006.

In a related deveolopment, Anadolu Agency reported that health officials in the besieged Palestinian enclave issued an urgent plea on Sunday for more medical teams, stating that their staff members are "overwhelmed" while striving to save lives.

The Health Ministry implored countries worldwide to dispatch healthcare teams with expertise in various specialties to Gaza.

It also highlighted that Israel had targeted hospitals, resulting in the deaths and injuries of numerous healthcare workers.

Palestinian Health Minister Mai Al-Kaila, during a press conference in Ramallah, stated that Israeli attacks have led to the loss of innocent civilian lives, including women and children, as well as widespread displacement - BERNAMA
