SHAH ALAM - Until today, the Madani government has consistently failed to commit accordingly, says the Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) president.

Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said the unity government remained unsuccessful in proving its commitment to economic recovery amidst the Covid-19 challenges.

"The cost of living issue remains unaddressed, leading to increased expenses.

"Despite plans for national economic development, the economy's growth has shrunk.

"This is evident as Malaysia's economic growth is expected to contract to 3.9 per cent this year, compared to the forecast of 4.3 per cent in April.

"Foreign direct investment (FDI) has also declined by 60 per cent, dropping from RM55.4 billion for the first nine months of 2022 to RM22.3 billion for the same period this year," he said during his speech at the Bersatu annual general assembly 2023 at the Ideal Convention Centre (IDCC), here, today.

Besides, Muhyiddin said the rational subsidy mechanism did not clarify who were qualified and who were not, leaving people confused.

"There is a need for transparency regarding subsidy withdrawal and it's reallocation.

"It's crucial to educate the public about rational subsidy mechanisms as Malaysians are unclear, potentially leading to confusion and dissatisfaction," he said.

Commenting further, he said according to the Merdeka Centre finding, there was a diminishing confidence in Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim's leadership.

"Only around 41 per cent express confidence, while 78 per cent have significant concerns about the government's performance under the Madani administration.

"Complaints about high prices persist, contributing to a lack of confidence in the government," he said.
