eMadani: Facebook user charging RM4 for cash conversions draws attention

SHAH ALAM - A Facebook user was caught offering a service to convert RM100 eMadani credit into cash payments.

It further detailed that individuals interested in the service can contact the user through the provided WhatsApp number.

"Tomorrow (today) there will be eMadani money. Those interested in cash, can contact me or exchange money for shoe purchases. "If there's a balance, I'll provide cash.

"I charge only RM4," the user wrote.

The service gained significant attention from followers expressing interest.

However, earlier today, the Finance Ministry issued a warning, indicating that strict actions, including blocking accounts and revoking eMadani credit rights, would be taken against those involved.

The ministry clarified that such actions would be initiated in response to reports involving 'peer-to-peer' transfers or cash redemptions.

The Finance Ministry stressed that the eMadani programme was introduced to promote the digital economy and cultivate a cashless payment culture.

The ministry asserted that it would not bear responsibility for any credit loss resulting from 'peer-to-peer' transfers or cash redemptions.
