Man pleads guilty to filming sister-in-law in restroom
The offence was allegedly committed at a minimart in Kampung Kor, Batu 8, along Jalan Kuala Krai here at about 1pm on June 19.

KOTA BHARU – A cashier was fined RM5,000 after pleading guilty at the Magistrate's Court here on Thursday to recording a video of his sister-in-law in a restroom at the minimart where they both worked using a pen camera last week.
The 29-year-old accused entered the plea after the charge was read before Magistrate Rais Imran Hamid.
According to the charge, the man was accused of recording a 30-year-old woman lifting her shirt while she was in the restroom, without her knowledge, using a recording device with the intent of insulting her modesty.
The offence was allegedly committed at a minimart in Kampung Kor, Batu 8, along Jalan Kuala Krai here at about 1pm on June 19.
The charge was framed under Section 509 of the Penal Code, which carries a maximum penalty of five years' imprisonment, a fine, or both upon conviction.
The prosecution was conducted by Deputy Public Prosecutor Muhammad Nadzir Abdullah, while the accused was represented by National Legal Aid Foundation lawyer Roshayati Hassan.
Earlier, Muhammad Nadzir urged the court to impose an appropriate sentence, arguing that the victim had suffered embarrassment as a result of the accused's actions.
“The accused is related to the victim, and both work at the same workplace. Therefore, we seek a sentence that will serve as a lesson to the accused,” he said.
In mitigation, Roshayati requested a minimal fine, noting that the accused, who works as a cashier at a minimart, earns only RM1,200 a month.
“The accused, who is single, is remorseful for his actions and promises not to repeat the offence in the future,” she said.
The court subsequently imposed a RM5,000 fine, with a default sentence of nine months' imprisonment if the fine was not paid.
The accused paid the fine imposed by the court.
